Nepal mark historic day with victory at Lord's

Jul 19, 2016- Nepal denied a fighting century from George Adair to register a historic victory at the Lord's defeating Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) by 41 runs here on Tuesday.
In a match that marked 200-year relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom, Nepal made 217-8 from 50 overs before three wickets each from Sagar Pun and Basanta Regmi had the hosts bundled out for 176 runs in 47.1 overs.
With history already being made after taking to the field, the win was a bonus for Nepal whose cricket history is shortest compared to the time when Lord's was established. In the match, Nepal didn't have best contributors with only Gyanendra Malla (39) and Paras Khadka (30) scoring in 30s.
Sagar Pun (26), Raju Rijal (24), Basanta Regmi (24 not out), Sompal Kami (23) were other major contributors. Keith Dutch and Chad Barrett picked up two wickets each for the hosts.
Nepal turned the screws right from the outset and Sagar Pun derailed the top order picking up three wickets. George Adair put up the fight and scored a patient century before Basanta Regmi came back in his returning spell to dismiss the set batsman to virtually seal the game.
