Recent political developments Nepal's internal matter: India

Jul 28, 2016- India has said that recent political changes in Nepal including Prime Minister KP Oli’s resignation are internal matters of Nepal.
Amid Indian reports that India is happy with the Oli’s resignation, Official Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup said India is neither happy nor sad with the recent political development in Nepal.
He said it is the government’s responsibility to work with the political leadership of all countries. This is the first official reaction of Indian government since the Oli resigned as PM this week.
“As far as the recent political development in Nepal is concerned, we treat them as a sole internal matter of Nepal and I do not want to make any comments,” Swarup said in a weekly regular press briefing. China on Tuesday also provided a similar comment stating that it is internal matter of Nepal.
Citing high level government officials, Indian media, this week, reported that India was happy with the collapse of CPN-UML Chairman Oli-led government. It was also reported that India has backed the NC-Maoist coalition which is in the process of forming government.
A senior government official, however, told the Post that it is not true that India is happy with collapse of government. “We are closely watching the unfolding of Nepali political development. It is not true that India entirely believes that new coalition will address all the outstanding issues,” said the official.
Earlier, India’s Ministry of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, in a meeting with a Parliamentary Delegation from Nepal, had said that despite the repeated assurances Prime Minister KP Oli and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa did not address issues related to federal demarcation.
